Performance Opportunities
At our studio, performance is about more than just steps and costumes — it's about storytelling, confidence, and joy. Each season, our students have the opportunity to participate in performances designed to celebrate what they’ve learned and share that growth with family and friends in a meaningful, supportive environment.
Story-Based Performances
Our performances are rooted in storytelling. Each year, we build our shows around a central narrative or a collection of stories that give dancers the chance to connect emotionally with their movement and bring characters to life on stage. It’s not just about technique — it’s about expression, creativity, and connection. Every dancer, no matter their level, contributes to telling the story.
Spring In-Studio Presentation Week
Each spring, we host a Presentation Week in-studio where dancers share their progress and skills with loved ones. This is a more relaxed, intimate opportunity for students to perform in their regular class setting. It’s a celebration of their hard work, and a great first performance experience for newer dancers.
What to Expect:
- Volunteer opportunities: Parents often join us behind the scenes — it’s a great way to bond with your dancer and be part of the backstage fun.
- Preparation: We provide at-home practice materials (including video tutorials) to help dancers feel confident and ready.
- Dress & Appearance: Costumes are provided, and detailed guidelines for hair, makeup, and attire will be shared closer to the performance. We aim for consistency onstage while keeping things age-appropriate and manageable for families.
- What to Pack: We’ll provide checklists to help you pack snacks, water, and extras like makeup and dance shoes.
- Arrival & Dismissal: We have a clear check-in/check-out process and aim to keep performances running on schedule so families can plan accordingly.
Performances are about celebrating growth, building confidence, and creating unforgettable memories — not just for the audience, but for our dancers and their families, too.
Student Performance Company
The NOVA student performance company exists to train dancers in worship unto the Lord and take that movement to the city of Jacksonville and beyond. We believe that movement can change the atmosphere, can speak where words fall short and can invite an environment for the Lord to move - in our hearts and lives.
During our weekly rehearsals, company members will learn choreography that will be used in different venues - nursing homes, local ministries, and NOVA’s fall and spring shows. We will also have the opportunity to travel with these pieces to Project Dance Palm Beach again. Company members will have a time of prayer and a short devotional during rehearsal hours. We want to cultivate a space for dancers to outwardly express the goodness of God!
“Let them praise His name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp.” Psalm 149:3
“How beautiful on the mountain are the feet of those who bring good news…”
Isaiah 52:7
